Down the Drain - Chapter 6

Read chapter 1-5 first...

Molly’s eyes had slowly become accustomed to the darkness. Although she still couldn't see everything, she could see that there were strange markings on the door. Spells to stop me from getting out, she thought miserably. And indeed, every time she touched the door, she would feel it was white hot. Around her there were several eerie looking skeletons. They weren’t the white stuff that she always saw in the movies. These were dirty with dry mud and cobwebs. She had cried many times. Now she grew thirsty. She wished she had kept her tears to drink later. She hadn’t. Just this morning I was nice and comfy, Molly thought in dismay without a worry in the world. I had had the finest pony in all the world, I had sea turtle egg for breakfast, whale fin for lunch and lobster for dinner, now my hunger is so bad that it feels as if I have a bloody fireball in my tummy! I had the finest crystal clear water form the Alps to quench my non existing thirst, now I‘m wishing I had tears to drink. I had a room as big as a sunflower field, now, I’m sitting in a cold, dark, small cell. Her thoughts were interrupted by the door being opened. Molly was blinded. When her vision adjusted to the new light, she saw the same man who had captured her standing there, with a plate of mushy stuff that Molly didn’t even have a name for.

“Wouldn’t like our little star to starve before her big performance would we?” The man said maliciously.

“When am I going up for my… ‘performance’?” Molly asked as the man put the plate down.

“In two weeks time.” The man said and turned around, but before he closed the door, he added:

“It’s a monologue with the name ‘The grill’ and is a duration of four hours.” Then he closed the door. Molly started weeping again.

* * *

The man walked closer to Will, a vicious looking blade in his hand. He raised it, but halted in mid air.

“Who said I was done?” Paspio asked. Irritated, the man turned.

“This boy isn’t Wel, but he is still important, if not more important. He is Will. Wel’s brother.” Will stared in amazement. He was dumbfounded. Then, he came to a conclusion. It had to be someone else. They had him confused with someone else. One by one the soldiers bowed. Will even thought he hear someone saying: “My great lord, will you forgive us?”

“Y-y-y-you…must’ve m-m-m-m-m-mixed m-me up w-with someone else.” Will stuttered.

“Oh I don’t think so young god. You’d better come with me. Quite obviously you don’t even know who you are, much less what you can do. Follow me.” To Will it didn’t seem as if he had much of a choice, so, he waved at Fatina, and followed the already scurrying old man.

After climbing thousands of steps, and walking through hundreds of hallways, Will had finally reached Paspio’s study, where Paspio was already talking.

“Ok. Lets start with the basics. Your name is Will. Correct?” Paspio asked Will as he plonked down in a big chair. It was one of only two chairs in the entire room. The room had a red carpet with flagstone walls which was lined with bookshelves. On the odd occasion where there wasn’t a bookshelf on the wall, it would have either a map or a landscape painting on it. In each corner there stood a pot plant like Will had never seen before. It’s leaves were bright green with silver spots on. The pot itself had magnificent battle scenes of Greek looking soldiers. In the middle of the room there was a great desk. But it was an odd desk. Each of the five legs was a mini tree, with a great leafy canopy. There was a trunk in each corner with one in the middle. The bottom and sides of the canopy was leafy, but the top was flat. On either side of this there stood a chair.

“yes.” Will said still looking around.

“You come from a planet called ‘Earth’ correct?”

“Yes.” Despite all the sleep he had gotten, Will was still far to sleepy to wonder how Paspio knew of his planet.

“Ok, here comes the part you don’t know. You are a god. You-” Paspio stopped as he heard snoring. Will was asleep.

* * *

Will awoke with startling sunlight in his eyes. It was morning. He had slept right through the night. For the first time, he wondered how it was going with…Molly. Then, he started to wonder how exactly he had gotten into a bed. Then, piece by piece, he started to remember everything, up until he had fallen asleep in Paspio’s study. He blushed. Poor man, talking to a sleeping person. Then Will laughed. Poor man. Will was lying in a bed that was positioned right next to a wall with a window in. That was where all the sunlight was coming from. He was in a smallish room with nothing in. It was plain, a flagstone floor with flagstone walls. On the far wall there was a door. There was nothing special about this door. It was just a plain door. Out of the window, Will could see the entire city. And beyond the walls, he could just, just make out a few trees. The door opened. Paspio entered with a plate of food.

“Oh, good, the god is awake.” Paspio said sarcastically. “You do know that I was busy giving you some seriously important information. I was telling you who you are.”

“Sorry, but you would also pass-out if you had a day like my day yesterday!”

“Yes, you are right, but you could’ve tried to stay awake through the lesson!” Paspio called out. “But…lets stop fighting. Here’s your food. Meet me in my study in ten minuets.” Paspio said and plonked down the plate on the bed next to Will.

“How do I get to your study?” Will asked.

“Ask the walls.” Paspio said and walked out.

* * *

Molly had had a sleepless night. She kept hearing strange noises the moment she wanted to fall asleep. Also, besides the fact that she was terrified, the shackles were busy cutting into her wrists. She was not at all looking forward to the prospect of ‘The Grill’, and was busy composing a speech that might save her.

* * *

Will finished his breakfast. How did he know when ten minuets was over? How did he get to Paspio’s study. Ask the walls. What advice. Will thought to himself. He threw the duvets off. He was dressed in new clothes. A soft white gown. It was smooth in texture, so he reckoned that someone undressed and dressed him. He blushed. He felt very stupid doing this, but that was the only directions he had. He walked over to the nearest wall.

“Excuse me walls, but do you know where Paspio’s study is?” he asked. Then, the strangest thing happened. The walls flagstones separated, forming a narrow hallway. Will stared in amazement. The passage was narrow, but it looked as if it went on for ever. But, Will was mistaken. As soon as he stepped into the passage, he found that he could see nothing. No matter how much he strained, he could not open them. He wasn’t yet sure what had changed, but something had changed. Then, a stench hit him. It wasn’t foul, but it wasn’t pleasant either. It smelled strangely, like a cave. Wet rock. Then, suddenly, his eyes burst open with such force that it hurt. He was standing in Paspio’s study. Paspio was sitting at his desk and writing vigorously.

“I see you found your way. Well, welcome to my study. Nothing great, but it’s what I like. Come sit. We have to begin as fast as possible.” Will walked over to the seat, still a little glazed by his trip.

“First I will start off with the things you know. You are Will form planet Earth. You-” Paspio was interrupted.

“What?!?! How do you know about Earth?!” Will called out, amazed.

“I am not a Cuentoian. I am an Earthling.”

* * *

“Have any last words witch?” The executioner asked. Molly was standing on a massive stage at her school. But it was different. On the stage, there was a small fire going with a massive log just above it. The log was kept off the fire by two fork shaped poles on which the log was resting. The fire was meant for her.

“I can’t even begin to tell you all about my world.” Molly began her well practiced speech. “But lets say this. I was in a street, and I was sitting very comfy in my open roofed carriage, when this boy jumps out of nowhere and pulls me off of my carriage. Then, abracadabra I find myself in the middle of a dessert-” That was when the first tomato came hurtling at Molly. It hit her in the face.

“Too long.” The executioner said, and bumped Molly into the direction of the fire. He then grabbed her, and while the amethyst shackles were around her hands, he took off the shackles around her feet. Then, he took the log of the poles, and put Molly’s feet around it. He then bound her feet with the amethyst shackles again, keeping Molly fastened to the log. The then did the same with her hands. He then lifted the entire log, and put it on the poles again. Molly was above the fire.

Molly woke up. She was screaming and sweating.

* * *

Will’s mouth hung open.

“H-h-how did you get here?” Will asked.

“Another story to be told another day.” Paspio said.

“That’s out of The Neverending Story!!” Will cried out amazed. A few years earlier he had sold newspapers, and saved up for a book. It was The Neverending Story.

“Firstly. That’s round about all you know. So, let’s start here. In this world you are a god. People all over Cuento send prayers up to you without knowing your name. You Will, are the god of nature.” Paspio waited for his words to take effect.

“Paspio…Why are you teaching me? I don’t really plan to be here very long.” Will said.

“You must defeat Wel of course!”

* * *

Molly had dreamt. Hallelujah. She was still in the small cold cell. Now she had to think of her speech “I can’t even begin to tell you all about my world .But lets say this. I was in a street, and I was sitting very comfy in my open roofed carriage, when this boy jumps out of nowhere and pulls me off of my carriage. Then, abracadabra I find myself in the middle of a dessert. ” Molly had thought it best to leave out the part about the White Grave.

“So, there I was. Not knowing a thing about this world. Then I went south, and came across a few slave traders, who caught me. Me, not knowing what to do, asked for water.” She went on like this till her entire story was complete.

* * *

Will gaped. It was impossible. Wel. God of power. Will could remember very Well how Wel had squeezed Will, and how he had seen Wel grow on his life force. Will thought of an idea.

“But…you must have me confused with someone else, but still, how is it possible that nature can defeat power?” Will asked.

“How do you expect me to know? And, you are the god we are waiting for. You arrived on the same time as Wel.” Paspio said.

“No, I didn’t arrive at the time Wel arrived here. Wel arrived a good time after me. An entire few hours.” Will said seeing a glister of hope.

“Yes, but on the same day. You are. Now…we have no time for you have the wrong person. Right now Wel could be killing or torturing people. His strength builds this very second. You must start training.” Paspio said.

* * *

Wel looked deep into the eyes of Aknak. He held him by the neck.

“Now…I will repeat my question loudly, and clearly. Where…is…he?” He asked, holding Aknak a bit higher.

“I don’t know.” Aknak replied, still trembling. Wel closed his eyes. He hated it when stuff like this happened.

“Boy, you better not even think of it.” Wel said, leaving Aknak and turning around. There was a boy, roughly eight or nine. He was holding a pan, and was about to hit Wel.

“Now…You better run off to your room. Me and daddy have some business to do.” Wel said, then turned is attention to Aknak.

“Where are they?” Wel asked, once more starting to strangle Aknak. He started turning blue.

“C…ity” Aknak gasped. Wel dropped him.

“You see, now wasn’t that easy? Now I don’t have to strangle you to death.” Wel said and turned around.

“O yes…do you have any swords…I think I might have use for one.” He asked. Aknak pointed towards a cupboard. Wel walked over, and took out a long curved sword. Wel turned to Aknak, and lifted the sword high above his head. Seeing Aknak’s terrified expression, Wel said

“What? I said I wouldn't strangle…I said nothing about decapitating.” And he delivered the death blow.
